Life chapters, not sun-sign memes

Mahadasha and antardasha name the planet ruling your wider season and your nearer chapter. Pair that with today's Moon nakshatra and classical gochara for a daily loop that respects the Vedic frame.

Birth nakshatra context

Your Moon nakshatra sets the opening balance of the 120-year Vimshottari cycle.

Vedic Astro Digest uses Lahiri transits, gochara houses, and calm Sade Sati notes when relevant.

Dasha and gochara, in plain language.

Why the Moon nakshatra matters

At birth, the Moon's sidereal nakshatra sets which mahadasha is running and how much of that period remains. That balance rolls forward through Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, and Mercury for 120 years.

Reading periods without fear

Saturn and Rahu mahadashas are not punishments. They name where life asks for patience, structure, or bold change. Use the theme line on your chart as a conversation starter, not a verdict.

Daily gochara on Astro Mate

When your profile is Vedic, Astro Digest computes Lahiri noon-local transits against your sidereal natal chart. You see Moon nakshatra, Jupiter and Saturn houses from your lagna, and optional Sade Sati context without Western outer planets.

What is Vimshottari dasha?

Vimshottari is the most widely used dasha system in Jyotish: nine planetary periods totaling 120 years, starting from the lord of your birth Moon nakshatra. Mahadasha is the major chapter; antardasha is the sub-period inside it.

Do I need exact birth time?

Exact time is best because the Moon moves quickly through nakshatras. With unknown birth time Astro Mate uses noon and warns that the Moon (and dasha seed) may be approximate.

Is dasha the same as Guna Milan?

No. Dasha describes your personal timeline. Guna Milan scores two charts for compatibility from both Moon nakshatras. Astro Mate offers both in Vedic mode.

What about navamsa or other vargas?

Navamsa (D9) and other divisional charts are not in Astro Mate yet. Dasha, gochara, and Guna Milan cover the daily and matching loops for now.
